Going for a stroll with Xander
As you may or may not know, or care, Thursdays at Winchester Chiropractic end at 12:00pm. This allows me time to stay sane, as well as get out and spend time doing things I enjoy. This past Thursday Jennifer, of Southern Belle Group, and myself went to the Humane Society of North Iowa to spend some time playing with one of our many favorite dogs, Xander.
When Jen and I first met Xander he was in the early stages of gaining weight after coming to the Humane Society a mere 11 pounds. Now, a month or so later, he is more than 25 pounds and is constantly adding weight and strength to his small frame.
Xander has had a pretty rough start to life, but he has persevered through it all with a playful puppy attitude and plenty of puppy energy! Thursday we took him out for a long walk down the road from the Humane Society, something that many volunteers do on a daily basis, or rather he walked us.
While Jen snapped a few pictures, I did my best to keep Xander on course, but like any puppy we made plenty of minor detours to check out things he decided we needed to check out. And if I am completely honest I didn't mind letting him show me around, he was just having a good time being outdoors and free for a little while.
In all we spent around two hours playing with Xander, and a few other dogs, and I couldn't tell you who had more fun, them or us.
If you would like to read more about Xander, or any of the other animals currently available for adoption at the Humane Society of North Iowa stop by their website and take a look around.
